FAQs
Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)
About Therapy & Accelerated Resolution Therapy (ART)
Q: What is Accelerated Resolution Therapy (ART)?
A: ART is an evidence-based, rapid therapy that helps individuals process and resolve distressing memories, trauma, and negative emotions—often within just a few sessions. ART uses eye movements and voluntary image replacement techniques to reprocess traumatic experiences without requiring clients to relive painful details. It has been proven effective for PTSD, anxiety, depression, grief, and other stress-related concerns.
Q: How is ART different from traditional talk therapy?
A: Unlike traditional therapy, ART does not require extensive discussion of past trauma. Instead, it focuses on rapid resolution by helping the brain reconsolidate memories in a way that reduces emotional distress. Many clients experience significant relief in 1-5 sessions.
Q: Is ART the right therapy for me?
A: ART is highly effective for many individuals experiencing trauma, anxiety, PTSD, depression, phobias, grief, or stress-related challenges. If you’re unsure, we can discuss your specific needs in a free consultation to determine if ART is the right fit for you.
Q: Do you only use ART in your practice?
A: No, while ART is the primary approach I use, I also integrate trauma-informed practices, cognitive-behavioral therapy, mindfulness, and self-care strategies into therapy to support long-term healing and resilience. Each session is tailored to meet your unique needs.
About Sessions & What to Expect
Q: How long does a session last?
A: ART sessions typically last 60 to 90 minutes, depending on individual needs. Traditional therapy sessions are 50-60 minutes.
Q: How many sessions will I need?
A: ART is designed to be short-term and solution-focused, with many clients experiencing significant relief in as few as 1-5 sessions. However, the number of sessions depends on your goals, history, and unique circumstances.
Q: Do you offer virtual sessions?
A: Yes! I offer both in-person and virtual therapy for clients residing in [your state(s) of licensure]. ART can be highly effective via telehealth for many individuals.
Insurance & Payment Policies
Q: Do you accept insurance?
A: I do not accept insurance. My practice is private-pay only. This allows me to provide personalized, confidential care without the limitations that insurance companies often impose on session length, treatment type, and frequency.
Q: Why don’t you accept insurance?
A: There are several reasons I choose not to accept insurance:
- Confidentiality – Insurance companies require diagnoses and treatment records, which can impact privacy.
- Flexibility – Private pay allows us to focus on your individual needs without insurance restrictions on session frequency, length, or treatment type.
- No Diagnosis Required – Many clients seek therapy for personal growth or stress management rather than a diagnosable mental health condition. Private pay allows you to access care without requiring a formal diagnosis.
Q: Do you provide superbills for out-of-network reimbursement?
A: Yes! If your insurance plan offers out-of-network benefits, I can provide a superbill that you may submit for possible reimbursement. Please check with your insurance provider to see if they offer out-of-network coverage for mental health services.
Q: Do you offer sliding scale fees?
A: I offer a limited number of sliding scale spots for individuals experiencing financial hardship. Please reach out to discuss availability. I also partner with the Rosenzweig Mission to provide one free Accelerated Resolution Therapy (ART) session to active-duty military, veterans, first responders, and health-care professionals.
